I love science and writing and do my best to explore both.

I started as a geologist before turning to journalism and embarking on a career in science writing, first at the Natural History Museum and now at Imperial College London.

I also like to explore the more creative side of writing, starting with a sci-fi novel and now getting stuck into a mystery novel.

Other things I love include cold places (having lived in Iceland, Finland and Canada), photography, and my two cats, Copper and Peanut.

Creative writing

Currently writing a mystery that mixes all the intrigue of an Agatha Christie novel with the fun of a pub quiz.

Science writing

My day job, and and great one at that. Comets, bacteria, quantum mechanics and everything in between.

This is just a hobby. But a fun and sometimes beautiful one. Mostly pictures of cold places.
